MOVE 1 was for a mother and adult son. She secured a large efficiency apartment on the third floor with kitchen, main room and bathroom. She needed a table and two chairs for the kitchen. We gave her a stackable shelf for pantry storage, two twin beds, a dresser, and chair. We took a rug as well. She was SO excited to have everything. They had lived in her car for2 ½ years! She wouldn’t even let us make the beds because she wanted to. Lots of hugs and on to the next move. MOVE 2 was a couple and son. Although the husband wasn’t there, the son was a great help. She wanted a sofa and rug, and we found a sofa and rug that matched. She loved them both. Although they had a kitchen table, they needed chairs to go with it. We took 2 twin beds to the second floor and a double bed to the third floor. This was a challenge, but the guys got it done! Once again, mother wanted to make the beds herself. That completed the two moves in the city. MOVE 3 was a single mother with an apartment was on the

It was a warm, sunny morning when a crew of energetic volunteers arrived to provide 3 families with furnishings so that they had the luxury of waking up on Easter morning in their own beds. MOVE 1 was to help 2 adults and a teenager. They were fortunate that previous renters had left much furniture in the apartment for them. We added a sofa, occasional chair, coffee table and lamp to make the living room comfortable and inviting. Kitchen needs were few, but included a trash can, mop and miscellaneous items. Other items were a bed frame, boxspring, 2 nightstands, a dresser and 2 bedroom lamps. They were thankful for the help and we wished the family a Happy Easter. MOVE 2 was to a mother, grandmother and 2 children. It was relatively small, but they received a kitchen table with 4 chairs, a couch, loveseat, chair and end table. Only Mom's bedroom needed furniture and she received a full size bed and frame and dresser and purple bedding that just happened to match her curtains. All received new bed pillows. They were appreciative of everything given them. MOVE 3 was to a mother and 2 children. This was a

Congratulations to our sister chapter in Toledo, Ohio. Nearing 4 years of service, they have created a vibrant chapter that reaches out to their community with such care and compassion. Last year, they won the Knights of Columbus International award for their community service.

🌹Thank you to Gifts that Give Hope Lancaster for including us in their tribute to women who volunteer. A shout out to Patti who chairs our Gifts That Give Hope initiative, a project that we hope will augment the funds available to assist with security deposits. Each week we hear from the teams that make the Moves on Saturdays. However, each and every day, we are receiving referrals from local caseworkers to assist with security deposits. Those experiencing homelessness who have identified housing and are able to continue to pay rent are eligible. Working with only Volunteers, our overhead is very low. That means at least 96% of every dollar donated directly benefits those men, women & children. Your decision to purchase an alternate gift from our page at Gifts That Gives Hope has great impact! It is helping us to transition someone into permanent housing.

We salute all women who volunteer🌹

What a beautiful start to spring! After climbing snow drifts to enter our Neighbors’ homes 6 weeks ago, the sunshine and warmer temperatures were a reminder that new beginnings are always possible. Ed McD led the charge with several of our regular loyal Volunteers: Cecile and Steve F., Pat L., Brad B. & Tim C. We were also assisted by a wonderful group of Volunteers from HARTZ Physical Therapy and Penn Manor School District/Penn Manor High School. A very special thank you to Kevin, Lauren, Josh and Brooke; Jen, Mike, Giannis and Aliya! It was such a pleasure to have you all with us as we help these folks get a new start in their own homes! Our first two Moves were located very close to one another in Lancaster City. A single woman living in a spacious first floor apartment already had a bed and sofa, but no storage for clothing or kitchen items. We were able to find a perfect cabinet with shelves for her kitchen, which she immediately began to fill with canned items and cooking supplies. The large kitchen had plenty of space for a rectangular table and 6 chairs. This gal told us that she
