What a blessing these students were! Thank you, Gail Troutman, for introducing them to us. This past Tuesday, students from Gail’s Life Skills class at Manheim Central High School, spent two hours with Mary, one of our warehouse managers, sorting through silverware. They matched the pieces into sets of 4 and 6. These sets will be included in the Living Needs boxes we provide to those persons newly rehoused every Saturday. Thank you for your help! It was an important task.
It’s what we do TOGETHER❤️
Our first Move of this new year was to a single mother of 3 kids. She got the keys to her apartment on Monday afternoon and we previewed on Tuesday morning. On Saturday, January 3 we took her a full bed and 3 twin beds. She needed only kitchen chairs as she had the table. We also brought living room furniture. As she was at work that day, her boyfriend put coats on the kids and took them outside to play, so they wouldn’t be the way of the heavier furniture coming in. We had a bag of books for each of the kids. They were grateful for everything. Our second Move was to a single man who had a room on the 3rd floor. We took him a twin bed, dresser, small recliner and a TV. He was excited to have a bed to sleep on. He proceeded to go to work as we left. Our third Move was to another single gentleman. His apartment was on the 11th floor with a great view. He had waited 3 years to get his apartment. We took him a bed and dresser for his bedroom, a love seat, recliner and table

The week of Christmas was a wonderful week! It was so beautiful to see the ways - all the ways! - our corps of Volunteers responded to the Neighbors in need whom we served that week. As a result, this report is a bit longer. Remember that while we talk about our Saturday Moves, every day there are referrals coming in and funds being sent to landlords to help give that final hand up some Neighbors need to access permanent housing. Volunteers are receiving & sorting donations, responding and scheduling Pick Ups and still others taking calls, doing Intake, doing our banking and all the jobs a paid staff would normally do. This was a holiday week but everyone was still at task. Look at the wonders we can accomplish together through the goodness of God! While the icy weather provided us with some concern, somehow we felt confident that the Moves would go on. And they did with an amazing team of volunteers: Truck Captain Extraordinaire Andy W, Van Driver Alicia K, her family Matt, Charlie, Lucy & Marty; Brad B, Rick B, Ted B, Charter volunteers Gerry & Suzanne G & grandchildren John & Charlize G & Willy
